How To Optimize Blog-Post For Better Search Engine Ranking

SEO of the post is called post optimization. Success of the entire blog depends on posts of the blog. I am not exaggerating by saying that. Marketing is definitely a task that needs to be done but it is not something that is must to do. There are many tips and Dos & Don’ts out there written by tens of bloggers, no matter some of them don’t even know whether they are liable or not to write on.
What makes a post a good post? It is still not known how search engines rank a page. Whatever has been said about search engine ranking position (SERP) is just an assumption and based on series of observations. Below are some factors that affects ranking of the post.

Content
Content is still King. Couple of days ago I was reading a forum thread at aussiebloggers. Members were discussing whether content, still, hold any importance in development of a good blog. I won’t believe, even if Yahoo and Google publically declares that content is not matter. Its simple logic. Why a person should visit your blog if you are not going to give something new and fresh. Even your marketing efforts will go vein unless you have content which is worth of reading. This is very true for websites also.

Title: Title Of the Post
This is very important optimization. Let me tell you what title should be like. Title must be the brief of what a visitor is going to read in posts. It must not be misleading.

Related keywords in body
You are most likely to talk about Monika if you are talking about Bill Clinton’s presidency. Talk of Bill Gates will not be complete if you end conversation without talking about Microsoft or Windows. Same way content is believed to be good if it contains related keywords.

External links to good quality website
Something must have been said before about what you are serving now. Don’t be shy to providing link to external websites of good quality like pages of Wiki, about.com and wired. It is good practice of letting your visitors know that you have searched about the topic before writing.

Internal linking
High PR wikipedia pages are good example of internal linking. Internal linking keeps a visitors stay more time on your blog. Related post link at the end of post is good way to increase google analytics factor called ‘time spent on site’.

Entrance Sources | Entrance Keywords
Which link visitors are coming from? Is the page related, if it is coming from external link (inbound links) or pages of the same blog? For which text (anchor text) link is clicked? This determines relevance of the posts.

Tagging
Many search engines are based on tag search like technorati. Tagging is very important for social bookmarking as well. Millions of people use social bookmarking sites, like Del.icio.us, to bookmark a site or page. Keywords that people use to bookmark is called tag, and thus they create their own categories.

CTR Of Post | Relevance
Relevance or CTR (Click Through Rate) is determined by how many times people clicked the link out of the time link was displayed. Relevance depends on good internal linking.

CTR Of Links In Post
How many clicks a link (External link) get which is provided in posts. CTR of links can be determined by [number of visitors on a post]/[Numbers of clicks on provided link].

You posts is surly going to get rank well if you score good on all these points. Otherwise your post will be one of those thousands of articles that has hardly been read for 50-70 times.
